Revised 2015

This 2015 reprint of the Public Health Service (PHS) Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (Policy) is available in both printed and electronic formats. The electronic version may be found on the Romy 85 Suede Pumps Navy Jimmy Choo London puDV76M
and includes hyperlinks to selected documents referred to in the text.

The 2015 reprint of the PHS Policy reflects the following changes from the 2002 reprint: (1) On January 1, 2012, OLAW adopted the Eighth Edition (), an update of the 1996 Seventh Edition, released by the National Academy of Sciences Institute for Laboratory Animal Research (ILAR) in 2011. Institutions with PHS Animal Welfare Assurances implemented the Eighth Edition of the during 2012. (2) On February 26, 2013, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Panel on Euthanasia released the AVMA Guidelines for the Euthanasia of Animals: 2013 Edition (Guidelines). PHS Assured institutions implemented the 2013 AVMA Guidelines during the period from March 1, 2013, to September 1, 2013. (3) The OLAW mail address has been removed and electronic and fax contact information has been provided to facilitate efficient communication and conserve resources. (4) Footnotes 2, 7, 9, 11, and 13 have been modified to require PHS Assured institutions to comply with U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations that are applicable to their programs. (5) A change in format, but not content, was made to PHS Policy IV.B.3. (6) Grammatical corrections were made to reflect current writing standards.

This reprint includes the Health Research Extension Act of 1985, Public Law 99-158, “Animals in Research” (November 20, 1985), which provides the statutory mandate for the PHS Policy. Also included in this reprint are the U.S. Government Principles for the Utilization and Care of Vertebrate Animals Used in Testing, Research and Training (Principles). The U.S. Principles were promulgated in 1985 by the Interagency Research Animal Committee and adopted by U.S. Government agencies that either develop requirements for or sponsor procedures involving the use of vertebrate animals. The Principles were incorporated into the PHS Policy in 1986 and continue to provide a framework for conducting research in accordance with the Policy.

OLAW, which has responsibility for the general administration and coordination of the Policy, provides specific guidance, instruction, and materials to institutions that must comply with the Policy. We’ve all been guilty of it at times. We all make assumptions. But do we really stop to think about just how damaging those assumptions can be?

A few weeks ago, our pastor preached on John 7:25-52. While it wasn’t the main point of his sermon, the part about the Pharisees assuming Jesus couldn’t be the Messiah because of their preconceived notions really got me thinking. What all do my own preconceived notions cause me to miss out on? ( Mens Sb Zoom Blazer Low Decon Shoe Clay Green Jungle Nike 7vkfdph

They didn’t want Jesus to be the Messiah because he didn’t agree with their teachings and practices. So, they allowed that to guide their reasoning.

Their assumptions blinded them from the truth.

So why do we assume so much? Are we scared to ask each other questions – afraid of coming across as ‘too nosy’? Do we not see the importance in knowing truth? Or do we simply want to believe what we want to believe?

I think sinful hearts are behind many of the preconceived notions we see in the church today.

We are jealous of each other, so we assume negative thoughts about others’ successes to feel better about our own failures or inadequacies. We secretly rejoice in others’ failures to puff ourselves up – thus becoming boastful in the gifts God has given us. And isn’t this the exact kind of judging Jesus warns about just one verse before?

We create unnecessary division in the church over petty things. And our division isn’t without consequence. It has lasting harmful effects of our witness to unbelievers.

How will they come to know the love of Jesus if we, the church, do not have love even for one another?

Let’s love one another as Christ first loved us. Let’s ask each other questions and get to know each other instead of making assumptions. Sometimes assumptions end up being true, but how will you know unless you ask? And if our assumptions are true, we need to know, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit we can be used to sanctify one another. To rebuke and correct wrongful thought and deed. To strive to be more like Christ, not less.

So let’s commit to that. Let’s ask the Lord to make us love one another enough that we truly invest our lives in the body of Christ, just as Paul described in 1 Thess. 2:8 . As we begin to grow in both unity and Christ-likeness, we won’t be able to cling to the foolish preconceptions that we have built up to protect our idolatrous hearts. Our lives, and our churches will be far healthier for it.

Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the offspring of David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was? (verse 42)

I took advantage of the Father's Day sales to purchase two shirts for my eldest son at Target, on sale for $5 each (a polo shirt and a t-shirt) which will be some of his birthday gifts for his birthday next month.

We had lots of fun taking short rides in my dad's "pre-owned," new-to-him, 1925 Model T! I plan to take some proper photos in the future, but the first ride is documented over on my Instagram account .

We celebrated myson's Eagle Scout ceremony rather simply, decorating with flags of two sizes that I already had (some of which had been purchased for my oldest son's Eagle Scout ceremony last year) and some large flags that were borrowed. We also used the patriotic ribbon medallions that I made years ago with ribbon that I received from my mother-in-law. Our dessert was simply ice cream, which we purchased on sale.

I've had several readers ask about his project. I hope to share his project as well as my eldest son's project in an upcoming post or two.

What did you do to save money this past week?

I harvested Mission figs, Royal apricots, Meyer lemons, peppermint, green onions, New Zealand spinach, Swiss chard, hibiscus flowers, and blackberries from the garden.

I worked in the garden, weeding and sowing seeds for sunflowers, Armenian cucumbers, Genovese basil, and vincas.

I collected green onion seeds from my green onion flowers and planted a new row of green onions in the garden. We are using these more and more often as they can be harvested year-round. I am wanting to grow enough greenonions in the garden to make it easy to harvest them several times a week every week of the year.

I made a batch each of orange extract and vanilla extract.

I finished sewing a table runner that I had started last year and set aside in my sewing room.

I took pictures of my second son for his Eagle Scout Court of Honor invitations. My husband designed an invitation on the computer and weordered the invitations as photo prints, which were much less than printing them as invitationswould have been ($0.17 each).
